27th Feb: I spent most of the day on a photoshoot I’d set up with with two lovely models Chantelle and Laura, plus makeup artist extraordinaire Lauren. The shoot was on location in the grounds of Vaucluse House, but this headshot was taken in my home studio (living room), just after Chantelle’s makeup had been applied.

Day 59

28th Feb: tsunami? What tsunami?

28th Feb: I was (rudely) awoken by a text message early on Sunday morning when I really did need my sleep. It was Bobby telling me about a tsunami alert at Bondi and urging me to get down to the beach with my camera. I tried to resist the thought of potentially dramatic scenes just down the road, but I couldn’t. So I stumbled out of bed, grabbed my gear and headed down to the beach with intent and caution, just in case a tidal wave landed on my head. No such need to fear. The emergency services were standing by, the helicopters were patrolling overhead, and the volunteer lifesavers were out in force. But Lake Bondi was flat as a pancake. As usual. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we didn’t get hit by a catastrophic natural disaster and that no-one lost their lives. But I did miss my bed.
